Quick Start Guide
Welcome to At My Gate — the easiest way to find and share surplus fruit, vegetables, eggs, honey and more with people near you.Finding produce near you
- Open the Map — it's the home screen, and it shows gates near you with produce for sale or free to take.
- Tap a marker to see what's on offer.
- Tap the gate's name to open its stall in the app, with opening hours, contact details and how to pay.
Buying something
- From a stall, add items to your basket and set the quantity you want.
- Tap Checkout and choose how to pay: Free for £0 items (just confirm), Cash into the seller's physical honesty box, or Card online through Stripe if the seller has set this up.
- You can leave the seller a short thank-you note before you check out.
Selling at your own gate
- Open the menu, then Sell at my gate → My Locations → + Add Location.
- Give it a name and set its position — click the map or type a postcode.
- Open My Listings → + Add Listing to list your first item: pick a type, name, quantity and price (leave the price blank or 0 to give it away).
- Your gate now shows up on the map for neighbours to find.
Getting paid
- Cash works straight away — just leave a physical honesty box at your gate.
- For card payments, edit your location, open its Stall section, and connect Stripe. Card payment can't be switched on until Stripe is connected.
Staying in the loop
- Account → Notifications: get an email when you make a sale, or when a listing sells out.
- Search Settings: save a spot and get emailed when new listings appear nearby.
Install the app
At My Gate works in any web browser, but you can also install it so it has its own icon and opens full screen, like any other app.- Android (Chrome) — tap Install App at the top of the screen. If you don't see it, open Chrome's ⋮ menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
- iPhone and iPad (Safari) — tap the Share button, choose Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
- Computer (Chrome or Edge) — click Install App at the top of the screen, or the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar.
- Mac (Safari) — choose File → Add to Dock.
- Firefox — Firefox on a computer can't install apps, so use Chrome or Edge instead. On Android, open Firefox's menu and choose Install or Add to Home screen.
Once it's installed, open At My Gate from its icon. When a new version comes out you'll see a message at the bottom of the screen — just tap Reload.
